The activities in the Flower Gardens of CityLife start again: all the appointments in the green

The Flower Gardens of CityLife, 3000 square meters of urban gardens in the heart of the CityLife public park, will come back to life with a series of unmissable events and new crops to discover. Sunflowers will be the undisputed protagonists of the summer and will color the nursery together with a collection of hot peppers from all over the world; while the orchard will start its production.

The appointment of May 22 and the program of events

On May 22, a season full of new appointments and ideal activities to spend a day outdoors, in the name of nature. The schedule is as follows:

May 22: “Good practices for urban gardening”, with the Cooperativa del Sole May 29: “The vegetable garden in the city: producing food at zero meters”, with the Cooperative del Sole 5 June: “Macro photography in botany”, by the photographer Gianluca Fabrizio 12 and 19 June: “Favole nell'orto , curated by Maria Carmela Marconi 26 June: “Urban horticulture: between tradition and future perspectives”, with the Cooperativa del Sole and Agricooltur 4 September: “Autumn a second spring: autumn blooms and crops”, with the Cooperative del Sol 11 September: The interpretation artistic nature ”, with Chiara Trinchieri, visual designer and botanical illustrator 18 September: Orti Fioriti away in Orticola at the Indro Montanelli Public Gardens 25 September:“ Peppers: protagonists of the “autumn” garden. The activities will take place every Saturday, until October 16, from 10:30 to 12:30 for a maximum of 20 people for each appointment: participation is free but registration is required via email, to be communicated by the Thursday before the date concerned, to the address marketing@city-life.it.

Urban gardening workshops

On 22 and 29 May, 4 and 25 September, the Cooperative of Sole will organize some workshops on gardening and garden care to offer ideas and suggestions on how to create, maintain and enrich your green corner in the city in all seasons.

The vegetable garden of the future

L '' innovation will lead the initiative on June 26, where the start-up Agricooltur® will present a new horticultural model sustainable and consumer life thanks to an unprecedented project, in collaboration with CityLife, which includes the permanent installation in the Flower Gardens of Plant 240, a 16×8 meter aeroponic greenhouse and Hortus, a multipurpose container module that will have the function of Infopoint and Store for the sale to the public of “zero centimeter” horticultural products, minimizing transport and emissions.

Aeroponics is an innovative and sustainable soilless cultivation method which consists in the nebulization of water and nutrients directly on the roots of the plants, allowing a saving of water and fertilizers of 98% compared to traditional crops. Plant 240 is a highly technological greenhouse that recreates the ideal environment for the growth of products: special filters allow you to purify the incoming air from polluting elements and return oxygenated air to the outside, making the greenhouse a real green lung for the environment; the constant control of environmental parameters (temperature, humidity) creates the optimal conditions for the development of plants and allows cultivation without treatments.

Fairy tales for the whole family

On 12 and 19 June, 2 and 9 October the Gardens will host a series of appointments for children and families as part of the “Fables in the garden” project, curated by Maria Carmela Marcoli with Dr. Aurora Mastroleo, psychotherapist of the developmental age. An opportunity to socialize and enhance the human, urban, naturalistic and editorial heritage through reading and interaction, with the aim of contrasting the risk of social isolation of families and the onset of behaviors linked to the difficulty of managing emotions such as fear and anger. To participate in this activity, registration is required, to be communicated to the dedicated address favolenellorto@gmail.com.

Open air photography

On Saturday 5th June, a chat with the photographer Gianluca Fabrizio will lead the most curious to the discovery of the “macro”, a specialized lens capable of accurately capturing the details and details of any subject in botanical photography and more. Technique, creativity and advice on use will accompany the subsequent practical tests in the field. Art will instead be the protagonist of the 9/11 meeting. In the company of Chiara Trinchieri, visual designer and botanical illustrator, it will be possible to apply oneself in the representation of a fruit harvested from the trees of the garden by choosing between colored pencils and watercolors.

The Info Point of the Orti Fioriti will be active every day from 8:30 to 13:00 to welcome the public, provide information and organize guided tours for groups on request, recreational and educational activities for families and children.
