Design Week, Base presents “We Will Design” to design a more sustainable future

From 5 to 12 September 2021 Base presents “We Will Design”: an experimentation that starts from the microworld of a room-atelier, expands to the collective dimension of the neighborhood up to open a wide gaze on our Earth ecosystem, to co- planning a more sustainable future through design.

Themes and projects of the BASE Fuorisalone

• Neighborhood relations. RESTART: ACNE – the creative collective of the Deloitte family – meets BASE for the Italian edition of RESTART: a project that was created to help small businesses in the Tortona district get back into the game after the pandemic, through the creative approach of ACNE and the talent of some artists selected and coordinated by BASE.

• Visions of the future. Temporary Home: 5 rooms to open 5 future scenarios. CasaBASE, the BASE guesthouse is transformed – thanks to the collaboration with IKEA Italia – into a sui generis residence where the space becomes a home, a place of experimentation and an exhibition space open to the public for 5 Italian and international designers.

• Research practices. Exhibit: sustainability, anti-waste reuse of materials, co-design processes, new approaches to learning, will be at the center of the various projects and installations exhibited at BASE.

• Public program “We will design “: every day, in the shadow of GAIA, the installation dedicated to planet Earth by the artist Luke Jerram, the public program will be held to explore the themes presented by the projects on display. Starting from 'Designing proximity', the talks organized by BASE and POLI.design, with the Department and School of Design of the Politecnico di Milano, with debates and points of view on the theme of the city of proximity, up to moments of dialogue with the designers and the realities involved in BASE, a special edition of Wunderkit and a day organized together with the Divercity Festival.
