Cosa fare a Milano - What to do

Milan in the photographs of Carlo Mari

A metaphysical and surreal Milan in the images of a great photographer
A deserted Milan, without traffic and people.
A Milan where emptiness and silence reign.

This evocative photographic service by Carlo Mari portrays the city of Milan in the
moment of its maximum exposure to the attack of an invisible
and insidious threat, for which we were all unprepared; the photographer had the merit of bringing to the fore a new city, not at all bruised or injured. Rather, we can see a time that slows down, not in efficiency but in ideas.
It reflects, the city, and induces to think.

Carlo Mari's goal also testifies to a discreet presence, but always
present, that of the Carabinieri, who in such a delicate phase, did not
“control” the city but “accompanied” it in this moment of difficulty and pain.

Carlo Mari's photographs were to be the protagonists of an exhibition opening last November 7 at the Gallerie d'Italia but, with the closure of museums and exhibitions arranged by the last DPCM, it was not It is possible to start the exhibition event.
The images have been collected in the volume IO MILANO published by Skira which tells of a different Milan, never seen, but always beautiful.
