Cosa fare a Milano - What to do

Design Week 2021, what to see in the Isola district

Isola Design District stands alongside contemporary Milanese architectural excellences such as Piazza Gae Aulenti, the Unicredit Tower and the Vertical Forest: it is precisely here that the district was born, four years ago, and immediately became one of the main official spaces of Milan Design Week, to give visibility to local artisans and galleries, but also to create opportunities for emerging international designers.

Since last year, Isola Design District is also part of the Dutch Design Week of Eindhoven, becoming the first Italian design district to participate in a foreign design event.

Finally, to react positively to the consequences of COVID19 such as the cancellation of Milan Design Week 2020, the organization has worked on a digital platform that aims to spettacolo a curated selection of designers and their projects, share the latest design novita, host Virtual Reality exhibitions, organize online events and much more.

What to see in Isola District

– Frida Market. A market exhibition that celebrates the value of what is unique and unrepeatable in craftsmanship and made in Italy, even when reproducible. Ceramics, jewelry, illustrations, clothing and design. A selection of artisans exhibiting their products and production processes, on spettacolo at ErnestoShop and Frida Isola, from 6 to 10 September.

– La Casa Distratta. In Via Pastrengo 5 there is an apartment like any other, or maybe not: it is La Casa distratta di NeN, the first Italian EnerTech that sells 100% green gas and electricity by subscription. If you enter, you need to look around carefully, there are a number of common behaviors and habits that affect consumption and damage the environment. Small gadgets and a big discount on energy are up for grabs. The Distracted House is open from 5 to 10 September, from 11 to 20.
